Why Fast Emergency Dental Care Matters
Dental problems rarely get better on their own. Seeing a dentist quickly eases the pain sooner and can save a tooth that might otherwise need to come out.
Relieves severe tooth pain sooner
Gives a knocked-out tooth its best chance
Stops an infection from spreading
Keeps a small crack from getting worse

What Happens at an Emergency Dental Visit
When you call, tell us what happened and how much pain you’re in. We’ll give you first-aid advice and the earliest time we can see you.
Exam and X-rays
Your dentist finds the cause of the pain or damage, taking X-rays where needed.
Pain Relief
We numb the area and treat the problem, or stabilize it so you're comfortable.
Your Treatment Plan
We explain any further care you need, such as a filling, crown or root canal, and what it costs.
Many emergencies are fixed in one visit. Some, like a root canal or a new crown, need a follow-up appointment. If you have swelling that affects your breathing or swallowing, a high fever or an injury to your jaw, go to the nearest hospital emergency department.

Emergency Dentist Cost in Mississauga
The cost of an emergency dental visit depends on the exam, any X-rays and the treatment you need. A temporary filling costs far less than an extraction or a root canal, so the first step is always finding out what’s wrong.
With insurance: most workplace plans cover emergency exams, X-rays and basic treatment like fillings and extractions. We can check your coverage when you arrive.
Without insurance: we explain the cost of each option before we start, so you can choose what works for you, including a short-term fix now and full treatment later.
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) covers emergency exams and many urgent treatments for eligible patients.
We Direct Bill Your Dental Insurance
Pay only your share at your visit. We accept most private dental plans, the Canadian Dental Care Plan and several government programs, and we offer payment plans if you don't have insurance.

Common Dental Emergencies and What to Do
Here’s what usually causes each problem, and what to do while you wait to see us:
- Severe toothache: usually caused by a deep cavity, a cracked tooth or an infection reaching the nerve. Rinse with warm water, floss gently to remove anything stuck, and take an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed. Don’t put aspirin on your gum.
- Knocked-out tooth: most often from a fall or a sports injury. Pick the tooth up by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently and put it back in the socket if you can, or keep it in milk. Try to see a dentist within an hour.
- Broken, chipped or cracked tooth: often caused by biting something hard, grinding, or a large old filling that weakened the tooth. Rinse your mouth, save any pieces, and hold a cold compress to your cheek for swelling. Small chips can often be repaired with dental bonding in one visit.
- Dental abscess or swelling: a tooth abscess starts when bacteria from decay or a crack reach the root. A pimple on the gum, swelling or a bad taste are warning signs. Rinse with warm salt water and call us the same day.
- Wisdom tooth pain: a wisdom tooth that’s only partly through the gum can trap food and get infected. If it can’t be saved, we can arrange emergency tooth removal, including many wisdom teeth.
- Lost filling or crown: keep the crown and bring it with you. Dental wax or temporary cement from a pharmacy can cover the tooth for now.
- Loose adult tooth: usually from an injury or advanced gum disease. Don’t wiggle it. Eat soft food on the other side and call us.
- Broken braces wire or bracket: cover the sharp end with orthodontic wax and call us. We can usually make it comfortable until your orthodontist can see you.
Emergency Dental Care for Kids, Adults and Seniors
Dental emergencies happen at every age, and we see patients of all ages.
- Children: chipped or knocked-out teeth from falls and sports, and toothaches from cavities. Don’t put a knocked-out baby tooth back in. Bring your child in so we can check the area.
- Adults: cracked teeth, lost fillings and crowns, wisdom tooth pain and abscesses.
- Seniors: broken dentures, loose teeth and pain around old fillings or crowns.
Thinking of walking in? Please call us first at 905-567-6891, so we can have a dentist ready and keep your wait short.
Urgent Dental Care and Walk-In Visits
Need urgent dental care today? Walk-ins are welcome during opening hours, and calling ahead at 905-567-6891 shortens your wait, because we can have a room ready. For a toothache, a broken tooth, a lost filling or a swollen gum, a dental walk-in clinic with a dentist on site is usually the faster route. Think of us as a walk-in dental clinic and dental urgent care in one: a hospital can ease pain, but it can’t repair the tooth.
Looking for a dentist open today, a dentist open late or a dentist office open on Saturday? Here are our hours:
| Monday to Friday | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. |
| Saturday | 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. |
| Sunday | 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. |
Go to the nearest hospital emergency room instead if you have swelling that makes it hard to breathe or swallow, a possible broken jaw, or bleeding that won’t stop.
