Root Canal Treatment and Saving Natural Teeth
Many patients come to Dr. Bansal asking, “Can you save my tooth?” As a conservative dentist in Mississauga, he prefers to keep your natural teeth wherever he can, so he’s often the dentist to save a tooth that others might pull. A tooth with an infected or inflamed nerve can often be saved with a root canal, which removes the damaged pulp, cleans the canals and seals them.
Keeping your own tooth means you chew and bite normally and avoid the cost and time of replacing it. Learn more about root canal treatment in Mississauga, or read about dental crowns, which protect a tooth after a root canal.
Minimally Invasive Dental Care
Minimally invasive dentistry means removing as little healthy tooth as possible. In practice, that can mean:
- Finding decay early at regular checkups, while it’s still small.
- Choosing a small tooth-coloured filling over a larger restoration when the tooth allows it.
- Treating the nerve with a root canal before a tooth needs to come out.
- Getting dental emergencies such as sudden toothache seen quickly, so a problem doesn’t grow.
What to Expect at Your Visit
Your first appointment with Dr. Bansal starts with a conversation about your teeth, any pain or worries, and what you’d like to change. Then comes an exam, with X-rays if you need them.
Before any treatment, Dr. Bansal goes through what he found, the options and the cost, and answers your questions. He’ll explain your options in plain language, starting with the ones that keep the most of your natural tooth.
We bill most dental insurance plans directly and accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), so you usually pay only your share on the day. New patients are welcome, with or without insurance.
