River Run Dental Centre Accepts ODSP and Ontario Works Dental

Looking for an ODSP dentist in Mississauga, or a dentist accepting Ontario Works dental coverage? River Run Dental Centre accepts dental coverage through the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) and Ontario Works, and we bill the programs directly.

We’re a family dental clinic at 11-1525 Bristol Rd W, near Creditview Rd, open 7 days a week, including weekday evenings and Sundays, with easy access for patients with mobility needs.

ODSP Dental Coverage

ODSP includes dental benefits for adults receiving income support, and usually for their spouse and dependent adults. Children in ODSP families are covered through Healthy Smiles Ontario. Coverage typically includes:

Coverage has limits on how often some services are paid for, and some treatment needs approval before it starts. We check your coverage and handle the approval request with you.

Ontario Works Dental Coverage

Ontario Works dental coverage is different. Children in Ontario Works families are covered through Healthy Smiles Ontario. For adults, dental help is more limited and is usually for emergency care, such as pain or infection, arranged through your local Ontario Works office. In Mississauga, that’s the Region of Peel.

If you’re on Ontario Works and need dental care, talk to your caseworker first. They can tell you what’s covered and whether you need an approval letter before your visit.

Does ODSP or Ontario Works Cover Dentures and Root Canals?

The program can cover dentures and some root canal treatment, but usually needs approval before we start and has limits on how often they’re replaced. Ontario Works coverage for adults is mainly for emergencies, so dentures and root canals are only covered in some cases, with approval from your caseworker.

If part of your treatment isn’t covered, we’ll explain your options and costs first. You may also qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

ODSP and Ontario Works Eligibility and How to Apply

Dental coverage comes with your income support benefits. There’s no separate dental application.

ODSP

Apply for the Ontario Disability Support Program through the Government of Ontario. Once approved, you’ll receive a member ID you can use for dental care.

Ontario Works

Apply through the Government of Ontario or the Region of Peel. Ask your caseworker about dental coverage for adults and children.

Your ODSP Dental Card and Forms

To use your coverage, bring your ODSP member ID or benefits card to each visit. For Ontario Works, bring any approval letter or dental form your caseworker gave you. We complete and send the ODSP dental forms needed for treatment that requires approval, and we bill the program directly, so there are no claim forms for you to fill in.

Keeping Coverage Active and Renewal

Dental coverage continues as long as you receive ODSP income support, so there’s no separate ODSP dental renewal. Ontario Works coverage is reviewed with your caseworker. If your benefits change, for example you start work or your family situation changes, let us know so we bill the right plan. You may then qualify for CDCP or a workplace plan instead.

What If Treatment Isn't Covered?

If part of your treatment isn’t covered by ODSP or Ontario Works, we’ll tell you before we start and explain your options. These may include a simpler treatment that is covered, spreading treatment over several visits, a payment plan, or checking whether you qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan. You’ll never be surprised by a bill.

Finding an ODSP Dentist Near You

If you’re searching for a dentist near you in Mississauga who accepts either program, we’re at 11-1525 Bristol Rd W, near Creditview Rd. We’re open 7 days a week, and we can plan longer appointments if you need extra time.

Using ODSP or Ontario Works Coverage at River Run

Book by phone or online and tell us which program covers you. Bring your member ID, health card and any approval letter from your caseworker. We bill the program directly and explain any cost that isn’t covered before treatment. We also accept Healthy Smiles Ontario for children and NIHB for eligible First Nations and Inuit patients.
