Wisdom teeth removal in Mississauga helps when your last molars don’t have room to come in properly. Wisdom teeth usually arrive between the ages of 17 and 25, and many come in crooked, get stuck under the gum, or trap food and bacteria. At River Run Dental Centre, we take them out before they cause pain, infection or damage to the teeth beside them.

Dr. Deepinder Singh, a general dentist with a master’s degree in oral and maxillofacial surgery, focuses on wisdom tooth extraction and other extractions. We’re open 7 days a week, including evenings and Sundays.

Why Remove Wisdom Teeth?

Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out. We recommend removal when X-rays show a tooth is causing problems, or is likely to.

Ends wisdom tooth pain and swelling

Prevents infection around a partly erupted tooth

Protects the molars in front from decay

Easier recovery when done at a younger age

What Happens During Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Removing one or more wisdom teeth usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. Here’s how it works.

X-rays and Planning

We check the position of each wisdom tooth and its roots, often with a 3D scan for lower teeth.

Freezing

Local anesthetic numbs the area, so you feel pressure but not sharp pain.

Removal and Stitches

Impacted teeth may be removed in pieces through a small opening, then closed with a few stitches.

We can remove all four wisdom teeth in one visit or do them in stages, whichever you prefer. If a tooth sits very close to the nerve, or you’d rather be asleep for the procedure, we’ll refer you to an oral surgeon and coordinate your care.

Why Choose River Run for Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom Teeth Removal Cost in Mississauga

Wisdom teeth removal cost in Mississauga depends on how many teeth you’re having out and how they sit. A wisdom tooth that has fully come through costs about the same as a regular extraction. An impacted tooth under the gum or bone takes longer and costs more, and X-rays or a 3D scan add to the total. The average cost of wisdom teeth removal in Ontario varies for the same reasons, so compare what each price includes and ask about wisdom tooth extraction fees per tooth.

With insurance: most workplace plans cover wisdom tooth extraction under basic or oral surgery benefits. We’ll check your coverage before your appointment.

Without insurance: we give you the full wisdom teeth removal price before we start. Looking for cheap or affordable wisdom teeth removal? Ask us whether any teeth can wait, since not every wisdom tooth needs to come out right away.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) covers wisdom tooth extractions for eligible patients.

Wisdom Tooth Pain: Causes and What to Do

Wisdom tooth pain usually comes from a tooth pushing against the one in front, or from an infection in the gum flap over a partly erupted tooth. Common causes and signs are:

  • Pain or pressure at the back of your jaw
  • Swollen, red or bleeding gums behind your last molar
  • A bad taste or bad breath that won’t go away
  • Trouble opening your mouth fully

What to do for wisdom tooth pain until you see us: rinse with warm salt water after meals, keep the area clean with a soft brush, and take an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed. These bring relief for a while, but the only way to fix pain that keeps coming back is usually to remove the tooth.

If you have swelling in your face, a fever or trouble swallowing, call us the same day, as this can be a spreading infection.

Wisdom Teeth Removal for Teens and Adults

Wisdom teeth are easiest to remove in the late teens and early twenties, before the roots are fully formed.

  • Teens: parents often ask about wisdom teeth removal for kids. Children rarely need it before their mid-teens, so we check wisdom teeth on X-rays at regular checkups, usually from about age 15, and suggest early removal only if they’re likely to cause problems.
  • Young adults: removing impacted wisdom teeth now usually means an easier recovery than waiting.
  • Older adults: wisdom teeth that cause no trouble can often stay. If one becomes painful or infected, we can still remove it.

Wisdom Teeth Removal in Mississauga: Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on how many teeth you're removing and whether they're impacted. A tooth that has fully come through costs less than one under the gum or bone. We give you the price per tooth before we start, and most insurance plans and CDCP cover it.

No. If your wisdom teeth have come in straight, are easy to clean and aren't causing problems, they can stay. We keep an eye on them with X-rays at your checkups.

The area is frozen with local anesthetic, so you'll feel pressure but not sharp pain during the procedure. Expect soreness and some swelling for three to five days, which pain relievers and cold packs help with.

Most people are back at school or work in two to three days. Swelling usually peaks around day two, and the gum takes a couple of weeks to fully heal.

We remove wisdom teeth with local anesthetic at our clinic. If you'd prefer to be asleep, or your case is complex, we'll refer you to an oral surgeon who offers it and coordinate your care.

Stick to soft, cool foods for the first few days, like yogurt, smoothies eaten with a spoon, cooled soup, eggs and mashed potatoes. Avoid crunchy, spicy and very hot food until the area heals.

If a wisdom tooth is badly infected or very painful, call us and we'll see you the same day whenever we can. Sometimes we treat the infection first and remove the tooth once the swelling goes down.
