Dental Implants in Mississauga

Dental implants in Mississauga give you a replacement tooth that looks, feels and works like a natural one. Each implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up: a small titanium post is placed in your jawbone and a crown is attached on top. Implants can replace one tooth or several, or hold a full set of dentures in place. At River Run Dental Centre, our dentists provide implant treatment from planning to the final crown.
Dr. Deepinder Singh, a general dentist with a master’s degree in oral and maxillofacial surgery, focuses on implants and extractions. We’re open 7 days a week, including evenings and Sundays.
Benefits of Dental Implants
An implant is the closest thing to a natural tooth. Unlike a bridge, it doesn’t rely on the teeth next to the gap, so they don’t need to be filed down.
Look and feel like natural teeth
Help prevent bone loss in the jaw
No slipping, unlike loose dentures
Can last many years with good care

The Dental Implant Process
Getting an implant usually takes three to six months from start to finish, because your jawbone needs time to heal around the post.
Consultation and 3D Imaging
Your dentist checks your gums and bone with X-rays or a 3D scan and plans where the implant goes.
Implant Placement
With local anesthetic, the implant post is placed in your jaw. Most people are back at work the next day.
Crown Attached
Once the bone has healed around the post, we attach a custom crown matched to your other teeth.
If you don’t have enough bone, you may need a bone graft first, which adds a few months of healing. Implants in the upper back jaw sometimes need a sinus lift, which adds bone under the sinus so the post has something solid to hold. We’ll tell you at your consultation if you need either. A temporary tooth can usually fill the gap while you heal.

Dental Implant Cost in Mississauga
Dental implant cost in Mississauga depends on how many teeth you’re replacing, whether you need an extraction, bone graft or sinus lift first, and what goes on top: a single crown, a bridge or a denture. A single tooth implant costs much less than full mouth dental implants, such as an All-on-4 style arch where a full set of fixed teeth sits on four to six implants.
The average cost of dental implants in Ontario varies with all of these. A dental implant price only means something once you know what it covers, so when you compare implant fees, check whether the abutment and crown are included. The cheapest option up front isn’t always the cheapest over time, because a well-placed implant can last decades.
With insurance: more workplace plans now cover part of an implant, usually as a major service with lower coverage and a yearly maximum. We’ll check your plan before you start.
Without insurance: we explain the full cost of each stage at your consultation, so you can plan ahead. If you’re looking for more affordable dental implants, ask about spreading treatment over several visits or across two insurance years. A bridge or denture may also suit you, and we’ll compare them honestly.
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) doesn’t cover dental implants, but it may cover related care such as extractions or dentures.

Implant, Bridge or Denture: Which Is Right for You?
The most common causes of a missing tooth are decay, gum disease and injury. A missing tooth lets the teeth beside it drift, makes chewing harder and lets the jawbone shrink over time. Here’s how to fix a missing tooth, compared across the three main options:
| Dental implant | Dental bridge | Dentures | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Replaces | One tooth, several teeth or a full arch | One to three teeth in a row | Several teeth or a full arch |
| Held in place by | A titanium post in the jawbone | Crowns on the teeth either side | Suction on the gums, or clips onto implants |
| Removable | No | No | Yes, unless implant-supported |
| Treatment time | Usually 3 to 6 months | 2 to 3 weeks | A few weeks |
| Neighbouring teeth | Not affected | Reshaped to hold crowns | Not affected |
| Protects the jawbone | Yes | No | No |
| Typical lifespan | Implant can last decades; crown 10 to 15 years | 10 to 15 years | 5 to 10 years, with relines |
In short, an implant is the closest thing to a natural tooth, a dental bridge is quicker when the teeth beside the gap already need crowns, and dentures are the most affordable way to replace many teeth at once.
Dental Implants for Adults and Seniors
Implants are for adults whose jaw has finished growing. Age on its own isn’t a barrier.
- Adults: replace a tooth lost to decay, injury or a failed root canal without touching the teeth next to it.
- Seniors: implant-supported dentures clip into place, so they don’t slip when you eat or talk.
- Smokers and people with diabetes: implants are often still possible, but healing takes longer. Your dentist will talk you through the risks.
Teens usually need to wait until their jaw stops growing. In the meantime, a retainer with a false tooth or a bonded bridge can fill the gap.

Dental Implants in Mississauga: Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on how many teeth you're replacing, whether you need a bone graft, and what goes on top. A single implant with a crown costs less than full mouth implants. We explain the cost of every stage at your consultation, before you commit.
The area is numbed with local anesthetic, so you shouldn't feel pain during the procedure. Afterwards, most people have some soreness and swelling for a few days, which over-the-counter pain relievers usually manage.
The implant post can last decades with good care. The crown on top may need replacing after 10 to 15 years from normal wear. Brushing, flossing and regular checkups help your implant last.
Most adults with healthy gums and enough jawbone can have implants. Heavy smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and some medications can slow healing. If you've lost bone, a bone graft may make an implant possible.
Some workplace plans cover part of the cost, usually under major services with a yearly maximum. The Canadian Dental Care Plan doesn't cover implants, though it may cover extractions or dentures. We'll check your coverage for you.
Usually three to six months from placement to final crown, while the bone heals around the implant. If you need an extraction or bone graft first, it can take longer.
An implant replaces the root and stands on its own. A bridge rests on the teeth next to the gap, which are reshaped to hold crowns. Implants usually last longer, while bridges cost less and are quicker.
